Cagrilintide: What the Evidence Actually Shows

Strong trial dataInvestigational

Status first

Cagrilintide is not approved in any country. It is an active Novo Nordisk asset in late-stage development. There is no legal supply of it, at any price, from any seller.

The short version

  • A long-acting analog of amylin, a hormone co-secreted with insulin.
  • Works on satiety through a different pathway from GLP-1, which is why the combination is interesting.
  • Studied on its own and, more prominently, combined with semaglutide as CagriSema.
  • Trial results have been strong. Regulatory status is still nowhere.

What it is

Amylin is a real hormone released alongside insulin from pancreatic beta cells. It slows gastric emptying and promotes satiety through the area postrema. Cagrilintide is an engineered long-acting version, designed for weekly dosing.

The reason it matters is mechanistic complementarity. GLP-1 agonists and amylin analogs reduce food intake through partly separate pathways, so combining them produces more effect than either alone rather than simply more of the same.

Why you are seeing it on gray market lists

Because CagriSema trial results generated headlines, and demand always arrives years before approval. That gap is precisely the window gray market sellers operate in. What is being sold is not the trial product, was not made to the trial product's standard, and has no dose-finding behind it for anyone self-administering.
